Ms. Heidel Scott
Assistant Instructor / Head Teacher Yoshukai Karate
Heidel Scott has been dedicated to martial arts since 1985. Beginning with Taekwondo and later training under Sensei Rayburn Nichols in Chito-Ryu Yoshukai, she now holds a 3rd Dan black belt in Japanese Yoshukai Karate.
Her passion lies in working with children, believing that karate gives them discipline, structure, and a safe place to grow. Over the years, she has created after-school programs for students in grades K–8, making a lasting impact on countless young lives.
Ms. Scott is known for reminding her students that “belts and ranks are earned, not given.” She teaches that karate is about effort, perseverance, and growth — lessons that extend beyond the dojo. Her students and their families have been a constant source of joy and inspiration, shaping her journey as much as she has shaped theirs.
Now living in North Carolina to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter, Ms. Scott continues to carry forward the Yoshukai tradition and the legacy of her teacher. She hopes to share her knowledge with new students, passing on the values of respect, hard work, and lifelong learning.
She often shares her favorite lesson: “A black belt isn’t something you wear — it’s something you become.
Your journey is your own.
Let’s keep kickin’.”
